2nd ElliptiGO European Hill Climb Championship Announced!

February 3, 2014

Mt Revard Summit

The second ElliptiGO EU Hill Climb Championship has been confirmed for 7 September 2014 in Aix-Les-Bains, France. This is a fantastic challenge event for ElliptiGO riders of all levels. The more competitive athletes can test themselves against the world’s best and aim to reach the summit first, whilst the majority can simply take on the thrilling challenge of climbing the half-marathon distance to the summit of Mt Revard. Aix-les-Bains is a fantastic holiday destination and this event would make a great weekend away for the whole family!

Leaving Aix les Bains

Although a challenging climb, reaching the summit of Mt Revard is within the capabilities of most well prepared riders – and only one rider didn’t reach the summit last year (he started too fast, but could have made it if he’d gone out slower)! For those of you who are (or were) runners, a good estimate of how long it will take to reach the summit of Mt Revard on an ElliptiGO is to use your half marathon time – the ride to the summit is likely to match your running time over the half-marathon distance. You can see more statistics about the hill climb on this link and you can read about the event last year on this link. Follow this link to connect with other participants on Facebook.

For those of you who have not done an event of this type before, rest assured it is quite possible to succeed, with solid training, even if you do not do any specific hill training on steep hills. Also remember, the worst thing that could happen is that you decide you’ve had enough and are taken to the summit by the support vehicle. It is always theoretically possible to simply turn around and coast to the bottom of any hill climb – so, unlike a long distance ride, getting back to the start is never in doubt on a hill climb!
