Endurance Athletes – Join Our Team!
November 5, 2014
Endurance athletes of all ages (and from all walks of life) are being called upon to consider joining the most ambitious ElliptiGO Endurance Team to date. The ElliptiGO Endurance Team will be training to complete the world’s longest-established, biggest and most prestigious long-distance cycling event, the Paris-Brest Paris (PBP 2015) randonnee. They will, of course, be riding the PBP event on their ElliptiGO bikes!
PBP 2015 is a 1,200km continuous cycling event with a time limit of 90 hours (within which riders must cycle from Paris to Brest and back again). The PBP cycling challenge has been run every four years for over 100 years. The ElliptiGO Endurance Team has tackled similar events in the past and the collective experience gained from training for and riding in those epic events has allowed us to build such a large team of new athletes. We are confident that they will all be in shape to successfully complete a ride like PBP by August 2015.
We are still recruiting new team members from both inside and outside of the existing ElliptiGO community and the current team comprises a wide range of ElliptiGO customers, from elite level runners (who bought their ElliptiGOs to train for road races and marathons), to recreational exercisers (who bought their ElliptiGOs to lose weight and get super-fit).
Idai Makaya, Lead Enthusiast for ElliptiGO UK, said: “As a company made up mainly of athletes, at ElliptiGO we are well aware that our customers are keen on reaching peak fitness levels and exploring their absolute capabilities. The PBP 2015 challenge will test all of us to the extreme and will get all of us into the best shape of our lives.
“Of particular interest will be the effects of the high volume ElliptiGO training programme on those of our team athletes who are runners. Some of them will also be training for running races, such as marathons and half marathons, whilst preparing to ride in the PBP 2015 event. We expect to see a number of them setting personal best distance running times next year, both while training for PBP 2015 and also in the months afterwards.”
With all the training experience in the team we are confident that we can get all our athletes up to the rigorous standards of super-fitness required to complete an epic challenge like riding the PBP within 90 hours, riding an ElliptiGO, whilst also preparing for endurance events in their other sports (like running, cycling or triathlon). If this challenge interests you please check out our team web page which lists our current team athletes and also shows how they will be training for the event. It also explains how new athletes can get involved in the team, whether they are existing ElliptiGO riders or people looking to take up ElliptiGO training for the first time.
We are recruiting team members until the end of 2014 so if this challenge interests you – or someone you know – please don’t hesitate to get in touch (after reading the relevant information on the team site). If you don’t already ride an ElliptiGO, having a background in exercise and sports is a necessary requirement for joining our team. We can assess your suitability for the team based on your experiences in sports like running, cycling, triathlon and other endurance sports.
Having the will and desire to get extremely fit – and the ambition to tackle the biggest sporting challenge of your life – are probably the two most important criteria for athletes joining this team!
