Paul Celebrates His Newfound Health By Raising Thousands For charity!
September 25, 2017
Earlier this year we reported on the remarkable story of Paul Cooper, who was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes at the beginning of the year, but has since managed to shed all his excess weight and has also reversed his diabetes diagnosis through a combination of sugar-free eating and regular exercise.
On 21st September 2017 Paul rode his ElliptiGO 11R 30-miles, in a charity fundraising challenge, which was a great demonstration of just how far he’s come after only a few months of ElliptiGO training. Below is his feedback, in his own words…
Following my Type II Diabetes diagnosis in Feb 2017, I embarked on a lifestyle change programme to combat the disease via lifestyle (rather than via medication). Part of that change was to exercise effectively – and my purchase of an ElliptiGO 11R has helped to facilitate this.
My company supports a different selected charity each year and the chosen charity in 2017 was the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. A sponsored cycle ride was organised for 21st September 2017, with a route starting in Bishops Stortford (Hertfordshire) and finishing at Victoria Park (London). I decided to give this a GO – riding on my ElliptiGO!
The 30-mile route was double my usual fitness route distance (so a significantly greater distance – and time on the road – than I am used to). My weekly fitness training route usually takes 1 hour and 15-20 minutes to complete, so I was anticipating a 3 – 3.5 hour duration for the charity ride (allowing for double the distance).
Clearly encouraged by the other riders – and by the thrill of the event – I managed to complete the 30-miles in 2 hours & 37 minutes! I was absolutely shattered at the finish, but the cold pint of Ale aided my recovery (and, in the process, I have raised over £2,000 for the Rainbow Trust)!
